“The other day, a friend of mine showed me a picture he made using a generative AI.”
My husband started talking this morning.
I was a little surprised, because I know his friend. I mean, his friend isn’t a professional artist.
“How was it?” I asked.

“Let me see..It’s just a kind of illustration by a generative AI you see on the Internet these days.” My husband said this.

Of course, I know the name “Chat GPT, Bird, and Bing.
But I didn’t know that there were popular generative AI apps and softwares for drawing among ordinary people.
Actually, I’m interested in Chat GPT and stuff like that.
But I haven’t used it yet.
Because I can’t think of any ideas what to use it for.
So this morning I thought about it a little more seriously.

Let me see…
I like sewing and crocheting, so I think it would be interesting if I could have a generative AI suggest some designs of my favorite.

Moreover, if I could create some patterns using a generative AI that would be nice!
But is this possible?

And..do you already use generative AI?
If so, please let me know the app or software that you use!

「この間、友達が生成AIを使って作った絵を見せてくれたんだ」
今朝、夫が話し始めた。
私はその友達を知っているので驚いた。彼はプロのアーティストではないし。
「どんな感じだったの？」と私。
「そうだなぁ、最近ネットでよく見る、生成AIで描いたイラストかな」夫はそう言った。

もちろん、私も「Chat GPT」「Bird」「Bing」という名前は知っている。
でも、一般の人たちの間で人気のある生成AIのアプリやお絵かきソフトがあるとは知らなかった。
実は、Chat GPTとかに興味はあるんだけど、まだ使ったことがないんだな。
だって、何に使ったらいいのか思いつかないんだもん。
で、今朝、ちょっと真剣に考えてみた。

えーっとね。。。
私は裁縫やかぎ針編みが好きだから、生成AIに私の好きなデザインを提案してもらえたら面白いと思う。
さらに、生成AIを使っていくつかの型紙を作ることができたらいいなと思う！
でも、こんなこと出来るのかな？

Are there monkeys in your country? あなたの国に猿はいますか？

I heard somewhere, maybe it was a podcast, that wild monkeys are not in Australia.
Oh…I didn’t know that, but is it really? There are monkeys in most mountains in Japan, and they are familiar to Japanese people. So I was very surprised by that. Moreover, monkeys are the most similar animals to humans, aren’t they? I thought monkeys were everywhere in the world.
So I asked my friend Chris in Australia for confirmation.
“Are there any monkeys in Australia?”

Her answer was that there are no monkeys in Australia, except in zoos.
Well, the information I heard was correct. I had to believe that and started searching the Internet to find out why.
Then I found new information that there are no wild monkeys in Europe either! Chris also did not know that, so we both were surprised.😳

As I wrote earlier, monkeys are very familiar to me, so it was out of the blue.
Umm, there may be other countries without monkeys.

野生の猿はオーストラリアにはいないという話を、ポッドキャストだったかな、どこかで聞いたことがあります。
へー、知らなかった。。でもホントかな？日本のほとんどの山には猿がいて、日本人には馴染みがあるんですよ。だから、とても驚きました。しかも、猿は人間に一番似ていますよね。世界中のどこにでもいると思っていました。
そこで、オーストラリアにいる友達のクリスに確認しました。
“オーストラリアに猿はいるの？”

彼女の答えは、オーストラリアには動物園以外に猿はいないとの事でした。
そっか、私が聞いた情報は正しかったらしい。そう信じるしかない私は、その理由を調べるためにインターネットで検索を始めました。
すると、ヨーロッパにも野生のサルはいない、という新しい情報を見つけたのです！これはクリスも知らなかったようで、二人でビックリしました。😳

先ほども書いたように、私にとってサルはとても身近な存在で、青天の霹靂です。
うーん、他にもサルのいない国があるかもしれないなぁ。。

ねぇねぇ！あなたの国には猿がいますか？

Takarazuka revue 宝塚歌劇団

My husband asked me “I’ll go to an exhibition in Takarazuka, you want to come with me?” So, I went out with him last week.

After the exhibition, we walked around the town.

Takarazuka is a famous city for “Takarazuka revue”.

So, do you know what Takarazuka revue is?

It is a musical theater group and actually all members are female.

I think this unique form is the only one in the world.

They are divided male and female roles, and do the performance.

And they play all roles in lavish, Broadway-style.

Therefore, their costumes and makeup are very gorgeous.

 

By the way, there is a 110 years old music school near the theater, and it is the training school for the Takarazuka revue.

The school is very popular but has only 40 students, so the entrance exam is always highly competitive.

For your information, last year the rate was 15.3%, but in 1994 it was 48.2% and the highest rate.

Eligible ages for the school are 15 to 18.

The test result is posted on a board in the school yard.

The girls who took the exam usually come and see the result with their mothers, and girls who passed are all in tears of joy.

TV broadcasts it every year, so it’s quite a famous scene for Japanese people.

 

I’ll go back to my story now.

It’s a pretty nice place around Takarazuka theater.

There are some shops, restaurants, and also a path with benches, statues, and a hotel.

They have a sense of unity, so when you go around here you would feel a sophisticated atmosphere.

By chance, we saw members of Takarazuka revue in front of the entrance.

They had a distinctive aura and greeted each other politely.

They were keeping a good posture.

I feel that they are very professional even outside.

 

Actually, I’ve watched a musical at Takarazuka theater once though it was a long time ago.

But I didn’t know much about the Takarazuka revue, so this time I could learn some and also found the nice atmosphere, including around.

The distance from my house is about an hour and a half by car.

It’s not so far though not close, is it.

I also visited the Tezuka Osamu manga museum on the same day.

The story will be someday.

うちの旦那さんが 「宝塚の展覧会に行くけど、一緒に行く？」ということで、先週、一緒に行ってきました。
展覧会の後、街を歩きました。
宝塚といえば、「宝塚歌劇」で有名な街です。
では、宝塚歌劇団とは何かご存知でしょうか？
ミュージカル劇団のことで、実はメンバー全員が女性なんです。
このユニークな形態は、世界でオンリーワンだと思います。
劇団員は男役と女役に分かれて演技をすることになります。
そして、すべての役をブロードウェイスタイルで豪華に演じるのです。
なので、衣装もメイクもとても豪華なんです。

さて、宝塚歌劇場の近くに110年の歴史を持つ音楽学校があり、そこが宝塚歌劇団の養成所になっています。
とても人気のある学校で、生徒数も40名と少ないので、入試の倍率はいつも高いです。
ちなみに昨年は15.3％でしたが、1994年は48.2％で最高倍率でした。
この学校を受験できる年齢は15歳～18歳です。
試験結果は校庭のボードに張り出されます。

受験した少女たちは大抵、母親と一緒に来て結果を見ます。そして、合格した少女たちはみな嬉し涙を流します。
テレビでも毎年放送されるので、日本人には結構有名な光景です。

偶然にも、エントランスの前で団員さんたちを見かけました。
独特のオーラを放ち、礼儀正しく挨拶をしていました。
背筋をピンと伸ばし、キープしています。
外でもプロ意識を感じました。

では、話を戻しますね。
宝塚歌劇場の周辺はかなりいいところだと思います。
いくつかのお店、レストラン、ベンチや銅像のある小道、ホテルもあります。
それらの統一感があるので、この辺りを歩いていると、洗練された雰囲気が漂っています。

実は、ずいぶん前ですが、宝塚歌劇場でミュージカルを観たことがあるんです。
でも、宝塚歌劇のことはよく知らなかったのですが、今回は少し勉強できて、周りの雰囲気も含めていいなと思いました。
自宅からは車で1時間半ほどの距離です。
近くはないけれど、そんなに遠くないんですね。
同じ日に、手塚治虫の漫画ミュージアムにも行ってきました。
この話はまたいつか。

A new sweater and a remake cardigan 編み物のセーターとリメイクしたカーデ

I crocheted a summer sweater using very thin 2-stand yarns. It was hard work, so honestly while I had to unravel a few lines (frogging), I really thought of giving up.
Anyway, I finished until the end. Good for me!

One more, I remade a cardigan. When I went to a Uniqlo shop, I found a cute cardigan. It has long sleeves but the stitches look breathable.  Especially I like the hem of the length. This is important for me.
But I didn’t buy it, because I have a similar one though it is different. Am I a good girl? (laugh)
So, I remade mine to resemble as similar looking as  possible that I saw in Uniqlo.

Do you see the difference in the length between the original and the new one? Maybe you don’t realize it. (laugh)
Unfortunately, I couldn’t join the cut nicely, but I plan to wear it as a casual outfit.

Sometimes I screw up, but I like to try to make something or try, anyway. (laugh)

極細の糸2本取りでサマーセーターを編みました。大変な作業で、正直、数段解かなければならなかった時は、本当にギブアップしようかと思いました。
でも、最後までやり遂げました。よかったです！

もう一つ、カーディガンをリメイクしてみました。ユニクロで、かわいいカーディガンを見つけたんです。長袖ですが、涼しげなんです。 特に裾の長さが気に入りました。これが大事なんですよぉ。
でも、違うけど似たようなものを持っているので、買いませんでした。良い子でしょ？（笑）
そこで、ユニクロで見たのとなるべく同じような見た目になるようにリメイクしてみました。
元のカーデとリメイク後、長さが少し違うのわかります？たぶん気づかないかも。（笑）
残念ながら、カットした部分をきれいに合わせることはできませんでしたが、普段着として着ようと思っています。

たまに失敗することもありますが、とにかく何か作ってみる、やってみるというのが好きなんです。(笑)
